Miss Licia

RAD Ballet teacher

Originally from South Africa, Licia started her classical ballet training at the age of 3 and has studied and passed all RAD ballet grades and vocational exams up to Advanced 1 level. She participated in many productions in South Africa, including roles in Snow Queen in CAPAB National Youth Ballet and competed in many Dance Eisteddfods.

In 2000, she immigrated with her family to England where she furthered her dance studies at The Royal Academy of Dance and graduated with BA (Hons) in the Art and Teaching of Ballet from the University of Durham in July 2003 and also received her Licentiate from The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), which is the highest teaching qualification given by the RAD.

After graduating, Licia was given an incredible opportunity to work under an esteemed RAD examiner within the ballet department at a North London Independent School. She has also been freelance teaching at various schools in the London and Tunbridge Wells areas. Then in 2006 took the step in starting up her own school, which was a lifelong dream and was very proud at the success and achievements that brought to so many students. In 2018, she made the tough decision to sell the school and to focus on her family which now consists of three gorgeous boys. Since the boys have started full time schooling, it has given Licia the chance to get back into some teaching roles and reignite the passion of teaching ballet.

Teaching is something that has always been a huge part of Licia’s life and she feels that it is a privilege for her to pass on her love and passion for dance.
